Music has been a part of my life as far back as I have a memory! My mother and father were avid singers and, even as a small child, I developed an appreciation for Depression-Era songs, Big Band sounds, Swing, Jazz, R&B, Folk, Gospel, Pop, Reggae and many other kinds of music. I'm sure it was fairly unusual to see a kid listening to Hoagy Carmichael and Cole Porter in the 60s and 70s! As I grew, so did my musical palate. I play piano, keyboard, organ, dulcimer and clarinet and I have lots of musicians in my immediate family and lots of musician friends. I have been in more than a dozen musicals in my local community playhouse. Over the years, I have developed an eclectic taste in music and, although I may not absolutely love every genre, I can appreciate good music of all kinds.
It would be impossible to compile all the music I love, all the music that speaks to me, all the music that brings back a flood of memories and emotions. So, I've composed a playlist of some songs I like, from different genres, and I enjoy each of them for different reasons. Some bring back memories, some remind me of loved ones, some make me happy, some make me want to dance and some make me want to cry.
